Brompton

Part of the Greater Sherbrooke metropolitan area, Brompton is a borough within Sherbrooke, Quebec.

Transportation

The best approach to get around in Brompton is usually a car. It is very easy to find a parking spot, and it is a reasonably short drive to the nearest highway, such as Autoroute Louis-Bilodeau, from any home in this part of the city. However, the public transit service in this part of Sherbrooke is not very frequent. Nevertheless, the borough is connected by around 10 bus lines, and bus stops are typically very close by. Walking is not very feasible for house buyers in Brompton because very few daily needs can be met without a car. Despite the fact that cycling is more feasible in certain areas than others, this borough is also not particularly appropriate for cycling as there are quite a few slopes, and there are few bike lanes.

Services

Getting to the closest supermarket as pedestrians is feasible for some, but not all, property owners in Brompton. There are also a few options for those who care about restaurants within a short distance. In terms of education, schools and daycares are easy to get to without the need for a car from any location in Brompton.

Character

The character of Brompton is exemplified by its relaxed environment. This part of the city is very good for those who enjoy quiet areas, as the streets are usually very peaceful - however noise can be an issue near the railway line, the airport (Héliport de François Desourdy), Autoroute Louis-Bilodeau or Autoroute Joseph-Armand-Bombardier. Finally, there are approximately 20 green spaces nearby for residents to visit, such as Parc de la Kruger, making it easy to access them from the majority of locations in Brompton.

Housing

About 70% of the population of this borough own their home while the remainder are renters. In this area, about two thirds of buildings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. Around one quarter of properties in this part of the city were built following the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This borough offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
