Located in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, The Ravines is a neighbourhood within Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Driving is usually the preferred transportation option in The Ravines. It is very easy to find a place to park, and most homes for sale are a reasonably short car ride from the closest highway. However, commuting by transit can be challenging in The Ravines due to the service's low frequency. Thankfully, residents benefit from a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most houses. The Ravines is rather appropriate for bicycling. Getting around by foot is not particularly practical for residents in The Ravines as running daily errands is inconvenient without a car.

Services

It is rarely an option for property owners in The Ravines to buy groceries by walking. In addition, those who like to eat in restaurants will have a good number of choices, and home buyers are served by a few cafes as well. Concerning education, it is a short distance to get to secondary schools and daycares from most houses for sale in this part of Halifax. On the other hand, there are no primary schools in this part of the municipality.

Character

The character of The Ravines is exemplified by its slower-paced ambience. There are approximately 20 green spaces close by for residents to discover, such as Larry Uteck Boulevard Community Park and Old Coach Road Trail Park, and they are especially well-situated, which makes them very easy to get to. This area is also wonderful for those who need quiet surroundings, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.

Housing

In The Ravines, roughly one third of buildings are large apartment buildings, but small apartment buildings and single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of three bedroom and two bedroom homes. There are equal parts owners and renters living in this area. A majority of the housing growth in this neighbourhood has happened after the year 2000.
