Dean

Situated in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, Dean is a community within Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

The car is usually the favoured way to navigate Dean. It is very easy to come across a parking spot. This part of the municipality is not very well-suited for pedestrians since almost no common errands can be run without the use of a vehicle. Dean is also not very conducive to cycling because the topography is not very flat, and there are very few bike lanes.

Services

Dean does not have any high schools or primary schools. Likewise, daycares are not abundant and accordingly tend to require a very long walk to get to. When it comes to food, home buyers in Dean almost always have to rely on a car to access the closest grocery store.

Character

Dean offers a relaxed ambience. Dean is very quiet, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. Parks aren't well-distributed, which makes them very difficult to reach from most locations within the community. Despite that, there are a few green spaces nearby for residents to unwind in.

Housing

Around 45% of properties in Dean were built prior to the 1960s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1990s. The sizeable percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of this community is an important part of its character. Homeowners occupy roughly 95% of the properties in the community whereas the rest are rented. This community offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
