Part of the Greater Saint John metropolitan area, Latimer Lake is a neighbourhood within Saint John, New Brunswick.

Transportation

Latimer Lake is particularly car friendly. Finding a place to park is generally easy. This area is not very bicycling-friendly because the cycling network is quite poor, and there are a fair number of elevation changes. It is also very inconvenient for pedestrians to navigate Latimer Lake since very few daily needs can be met without a vehicle.

Services

In all but a very small number of cases, a car is needed to buy groceries. There are a few restaurants in this part of the city. Concerning education, there are only a very small number of high schools in Latimer Lake and thus they can be a very long stroll away. Furthermore, this neighbourhood does not contain any primary schools. Likewise, parents and their children may find it very hard to access daycares as pedestrians.

Character

The character of Latimer Lake is exemplified by its relaxed atmosphere. Latimer Lake is very quiet overall, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue close to the airport (Saint John Airport). Green spaces aren't well-located, making it rather challenging to get to them. Despite that, there are approximately 20 parks close by for residents to explore.

Housing

Many dwellings are single detached homes, making it easy to find detached homes in Latimer Lake, whereas the rest are mainly mobile homes. Around 40% of properties in this area were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This part of the city offers mainly two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 85% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 15% are renters.
