Transportation

McAllister is an extraordinarily good part of Saint John for driving. It is especially convenient to access a place to park, and nearby highways are moderately easy to reach from any home in this neighbourhood. However, residents using public transit may experience limited options in McAllister due to the infrequent service. Nevertheless, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. The bicycle is a somewhat poor means of transportation in this area because there is a considerable amount of elevation changes, and the cycling network is not very extensive. Likewise, those who are fond of eating in restaurants or cafes will have a fair number of opportunities in this area. It is also easy to reach a selection of clothing stores without a car.

Character

McAllister is a very good neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a slower-paced environment. McAllister is very quiet, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue. It is occasionally difficult to access parks within the neighbourhood since they aren't well-distributed. Despite that, there are a few parks nearby for residents to visit.

Housing

Small apartment buildings are the most common housing type, representing roughly 40% of dwellings in McAllister, and the rest are mainly mobile homes and townhouses. Notably, this area is good for those looking for two bedroom homes. The split between homeowners and renters is about even. Many of the properties in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1980s and the 1990s.
