Island View

The neighbourhood of Island View is part of the city of Saint John, New Brunswick, which is located in the Greater Saint John metropolitan area.

Transportation

The favoured approach to move around in Island View is very often driving. It is a rather short car ride to the closest highway from anywhere in this part of the city, and it is very convenient to park. In contrast, Island View is not a very pleasant part of Saint John for travelling by public transit. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and the closest bus stop is usually close by. This part of the city is not very amenable to biking as there are quite a few hills, and the cycling network is rather poor. Many of the homes for sale in this neighbourhood are located in places that are also not very suitable for people who like to get around as pedestrians as meeting daily needs is inconvenient without needing a vehicle.

Services

Buying one's groceries frequently necessitates the use of a vehicle in Island View. Nonetheless, getting to the closest pharmacy and consequently some basic food items is usually convenient. A small number of restaurants and coffee shops can be found as well. When it comes to education, parents and their children will appreciate the proximity to primary schools and daycares, which are within a short distance from the majority of houses for sale in this part of Saint John. In contrast, it can be difficult to access high schools as a pedestrian.

Character

Home buyers who prefer a slower-paced environment will enjoy Island View. Island View is very quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Reaching green spaces is sometimes difficult in the neighbourhood since they aren't well-located. Despite that, there are around 10 parks close by for residents to unwind in.

Housing

Single detached homes are the main housing type, representing many dwellings in Island View, and the remainder are mainly small apartment buildings. Roughly 30% of properties in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This part of Saint John is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly three quarters of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while renters make up the remainder.
