Lakeridge

Lakeridge is a neighbourhood within Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, which is situated in the Greater Saskatoon metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is a very good means of transportation in Lakeridge. It is a short car ride to the closest highway from anywhere in this area, and accessing a parking spot is generally easy. However, this part of Saskatoon is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, house owners are served by a few bus lines, and it is especially convenient to reach a nearby bus stop from most residences. Lakeridge is bicycling-friendly because there are a limited number of slopes to challenge cyclists, and the bicycling infrastructure is good. Getting around as a pedestrian is not particularly practical for residents in Lakeridge because few daily needs can be carried out without a car.

Services

In Lakeridge, parents and their schoolchildren will almost always be able to access primary schools and daycares by walking. On the other hand, it can be very difficult to reach high schools without a car. When it comes to food, the nearest grocery store in Lakeridge is generally only a rather short walk away. Moreover, Lakeridge is a good place in which to eat out, and residents are served by a few cafes as well.

Character

Lakeridge offers a relaxed atmosphere and will appeal to home buyers who enjoy spending time outdoors. It is easy to get to green spaces in the neighbourhood since there are about 20 of them close by for residents to check out. This part of the city is also very quiet, as the streets are very calm.

Housing

Lakeridge experienced its biggest building boom between 1980 and 1990, so most of the available housing stock is from this time period. In this area, almost all dwellings are single detached homes, while duplexes are also present in the housing stock. Homeowners occupy roughly 95% of the units in the neighbourhood while the rest are rented. This area is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
