Laurendeau

Laurendeau is a neighbourhood within Longueuil, Quebec, which is located in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Travelling by car is very easy in Laurendeau. It is convenient to come across a place to park, and many homes for sale are a short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Autoroute de l'Acier. However, the transit network in Laurendeau is not especially practical. Thankfully, there is the Gare Longueuil-Saint-Hubert on the 13 - Mont-Saint-Hilaire. House owners benefit from around 30 bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most residences. This neighbourhood is fairly cycling-friendly as riding a bicycle is made easier by the generally flat terrain. However, there are relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of Laurendeau, despite the fact that many daily errands can be run without the use of a car.

Services

It is easy to access the nearest grocery store as a pedestrian from any location in Laurendeau. In addition, a restaurant is commonly just around the corner, and a limited variety of cafes is available as well. When it comes to education, daycares and primary schools are very easy to access as a pedestrian from most homes for sale in Laurendeau. In contrast, there are only a few high schools and consequently they can be an extended distance away.

Character

Laurendeau offers a broad selection of green spaces to enjoy. To be more precise, parks, including Parc de la Cité and Parc Marcel-Simard, are very well-distributed and there are over 50 of them close by for residents to relax in, making them easy to access from the majority of locations in this area. At the same time, there are few tree-lined streets. This part of Longueuil remains relatively quiet, since there are few people out and about on the streets, although those who are closer to the airport (Aéroport de St-Hubert), the railway line or Autoroute de l'Acier may experience more noise.

Housing

Single detached homes are the main housing type, representing around 45% of buildings in Laurendeau, while the rest are mainly small apartment buildings. This part of Longueuil did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new dwellings in Laurendeau was spread throughout several decades in recent history. This neighbourhood also has a good variety of housing size options - it is quite easy to find homes ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About three quarters of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the rest are rented.
