The neighbourhood of Fairview can be found in the city of Pointe-Claire, Quebec, which is located in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Fairview is fairly well-suited for those who prefer to travel on foot; many common errands can be run without a vehicle. It is also convenient to travel by bike in this neighbourhood since the cycling infrastructure is rather extensive, and there are few elevation changes to challenge cyclists. The favoured mode of transportation in Fairview is very often driving. It is very convenient to park, and it is a short drive to the nearest highway, such as Autoroute Félix-Leclerc, from any home in this area. However, the public transit service in Fairview is not particularly frequent. Thankfully, there are about 20 bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are usually very close by.

Services

Parents and their schoolchildren will appreciate that wherever their house is located in this part of the city, secondary schools and daycares are nearby. However, this area does not contain any primary schools. In terms of food, it is usually an option for house buyers in this part of Pointe-Claire to do their grocery shopping by walking. In addition, there is generally a restaurant or cafe in close proximity. It is also convenient to access a number of clothing stores by foot.

Character

Fairview offers a broad selection of green spaces to enjoy, despite its sometimes busy feel. More specifically, it is easy to get to parks in the neighbourhood since there are approximately 40 of them close by for residents to explore. Despite the abundance of public green spaces, the tree canopy coverage for numerous streets is below average. This area is relatively quiet, as there are few people out and about on the streets, although those who are near the railway line or Autoroute Félix-Leclerc may experience higher levels of noise.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing about half of buildings in Fairview, while the remainder are mainly large apartment buildings and townhouses. About 40% of properties in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 1990s.
