University of Prince Edward Island is a neighbourhood within Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, which is situated in the Greater Charlottetown metropolitan area.

Transportation

This part of the city is fairly suited for biking since the topography is flat. It is also convenient for pedestrians to move around in this part of Charlottetown; many common errands can be run without the need for a car. The car is very often the preferred way to navigate this neighbourhood. Most houses for sale are a rather short car ride from the closest highway, and it is especially convenient to park. However, the public transit system in this area is not very convenient. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and bus stops are commonly around the corner.

Services

The nearest grocery store in this part of Charlottetown is typically only a short distance away. In addition, those who are fond of dining in restaurants or cafes will have a good number of options in University of Prince Edward Island. It is also a rather short distance to a decent choice of clothing stores. As far as education is concerned, primary schools and daycares are convenient to reach by foot from anywhere in this neighbourhood. On the other hand, high schools are not especially abundant and accordingly may require a rather long walk to get to.

Character

University of Prince Edward Island is unique in that it contains both vibrant and quiet areas, making it appealing to more people. Although this part of the city is not known for its vibrancy, with the nightlife venues in nearby neighbourhoods, it is sometimes challenging to find a place to grab a drink because they are generally located relatively close by. At the same time, this area is quiet overall, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic.

Housing

The split between renters and homeowners is about even. The housing stock of this part of Charlottetown is composed primarily of single detached homes and townhouses. About one third of properties in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 2000s.
