University

Part of the Greater Windsor metropolitan area, University is a neighbourhood within Windsor, Ontario.

Transportation

University will draw active people as it is suited for bicycling. More precisely, riding is facilitated by the generally flat terrain, and the bicycling infrastructure is good. University will also attract home buyers who want to reside in a walkable community as it is suited to pedestrians; many daily errands can be run without a vehicle. Cars are a very good transportation option in this part of the city. Nearby highways are easy to reach from anywhere in University, and parking is quite easy. However, travelling by public transit is difficult in University. Thankfully, there is West Riverfront and Joe Louis Arena on the Detroit People Mover. The neighbourhood is linked by about 10 bus lines, and most homes are very close to a bus stop.

Services

Schools and daycares are very easy to access as a pedestrian from most properties for sale in University. When it comes to food, it is very often feasible for house buyers in this area to purchase their groceries by walking. Furthermore, there are a good number of choices in close proximity for those who value restaurants and cafes.

Character

University has a character that appeals to a fairly diverse group of people. Although the ambience is not the liveliest in this part of the city, its main streets are still quite lively, and finding one of the about 20 nightlife venues is very easy because they are generally situated in very convenient locations. University is quiet overall, as the streets tend to be reasonably peaceful. There are about 30 green spaces nearby for residents to enjoy, including Assumption Park;Windsor Sculpture Park and Centennial Park, and they are very well-distributed, making it easy to access them from most locations within University.

Housing

Roughly two thirds of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters whereas the remainder are occupied by owners. Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing around 45% of buildings in this part of Windsor, while large apartment buildings and small apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. This area experienced its most significant building boom prior to the 1960s, so most of the available properties are from this era. This area also has a good choice of unit sizes - it is quite easy to find homes ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
