The neighbourhood of Willowdale East is part of the city of Toronto, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.
Transportation
Willowdale East provides home buyers with several alternative modes of transportation. Most houses for sale in this part of the city are located in areas that are very suitable for people who travel as pedestrians; many day-to-day needs are easy to carry out without a vehicle, and there are also a fair number of businesses nearby. Willowdale East is also fairly amenable to biking since the cycling infrastructure is reasonably extensive. Owing to a multitude of nearby rapid transit stations on the Line 1 (Yonge-University), Line 4 (Sheppard) and Viva Blue, and around 40 nearby bus lines, this area is very transit friendly. Willowdale East is also moderately car friendly. The majority of real estate listings are a reasonably short car ride from the closest highway, such as Highway 401.
Services
Families will welcome that no matter where their property is located in Willowdale East, daycares and schools are close by. With respect to eating, the nearest supermarket in this part of the city is generally only a very short walk away. Likewise, owing to over 100 restaurants and about 30 cafes, Willowdale East is a very good place in which to go out to eat. It is also a short trip to a very good selection of clothing stores.
Character
Willowdale East offers a variety of experiences for those who enjoy a vibrant atmosphere and spending time outdoors. Even though the ambience is not the most lively in this part of the city, its busier streets can still be quite dynamic, and with its a few nightlife venues, there are options for nighttime activities. However, greenery is reasonably present in this neighbourhood as there are numerous tree-lined streets. Accessing public green spaces, including Bayview Village Park, is very easy from the majority of locations in the neighbourhood since there are over 100 of them nearby for residents to enjoy.
Housing
Roughly 60% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the rest are rented. In this area, about 70% of dwellings are large apartment buildings, and the rest of the properties are mainly single detached homes. Most of the housing growth in this part of the city has occurred following the year 2000. This area is primarily composed of one bedroom and two bedroom homes.
