The neighbourhood of Downsview can be found in the city of Toronto, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Regardless of the mode of transportation, it is reasonably straightforward to move around in Downsview. This neighbourhood is home to a good public transit network. More specifically, there is the Downsview Park on the Barrie. There are many rapid transit stations on the Line 1 (Yonge-University). The neighbourhood is linked by about 30 bus lines, and bus stops are commonly around the corner. Downsview is also suitable for those who like to get around by foot; running common errands is convenient without a car. This neighbourhood is rather bike-friendly.

Services

Families will welcome the proximity to daycares and schools, which are within a short distance from most, if not all, houses for sale in this area. As far as eating is concerned, it is generally possible for property owners in this neighbourhood to shop for groceries as pedestrians. Furthermore, there are a fair number of choices for those who value nearby restaurants and cafes. It is also a rather short distance to a reasonable selection of clothing stores.

Character

The character of Downsview is exemplified by its slower-paced atmosphere. This part of the city is reasonably quiet overall, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - however some areas can be quite noisy, especially around Highway 401, Highway 400, the railway line or the airport (Downsview Airport). Finally, there is a fair amount of greenery in this area; parks, such as Downsview Park and North Park, are very well-situated and there are over 50 of them nearby for residents to check out, which makes them very easy to access. Furthermore, residents will find that there are many tree-lined streets.

Housing

In Downsview, about 30% of buildings are large apartment buildings, while small apartment buildings, single detached homes, and townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. This neighbourhood also has a good selection of unit sizes - homes range from lofts to four or more bedrooms. The proportions of renters and homeowners are about even. Roughly one third of homes in this neighbourhood were built between 1960 and 1980, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 2000s.
