McIntyre

McIntyre is a neighbourhood within Thunder Bay, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Thunder Bay metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is an excellent transportation option in this area. It is very easy to come across a parking spot. On the other hand, commuting by public transit is very difficult in McIntyre. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and the closest bus stop is typically close by. Getting around as a pedestrian is not very practical for residents in McIntyre as very few day-to-day needs can be met without a car. Even though a few enjoyable areas for cycling exist, the bike is a sometimes poor means of transportation in McIntyre as there are a good number of hills to challenge cyclists, and the bicycling network is not very extensive.

Services

Property owners in McIntyre usually have to use a car to reach the closest supermarket. There are also a few opportunities for those who appreciate restaurants in close proximity. As far as education is concerned, it is a rather short distance to reach primary schools from most houses for sale in McIntyre. On the other hand, high schools are not plentiful and accordingly tend to require a very long trip to get to.

Character

People who prefer a relaxed environment will enjoy McIntyre. McIntyre is reasonably quiet, as noise from streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.

Housing

The large percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of McIntyre is an important part of its character. This area is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 95% of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 5% are rented. This part of Thunder Bay did not experience a single construction boom; the construction of new dwellings in McIntyre was spread throughout several decades in the twentieth and twenty-first century.
