Martindale

The neighbourhood of Martindale can be found in the city of St. Catharines, Ontario, which is located in the St. Catharines - Niagara metropolitan area.

Transportation

Martindale is particularly car friendly. It is straightforward to come across a place to park, and it is a short drive to the closest highway, such as Highway 406, from any location in this neighbourhood. On the other hand, Martindale is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, there are about 10 bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and the nearest bus stop is usually around the corner. There are relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of this part of St. Catharines, even though most daily needs are convenient to carry out without the use of a vehicle. In contrast, the bike is a reasonably good mode of transportation in Martindale because there are a limited number of hills for cyclists to brave.

Services

Primary schools and daycares are very easy to access on foot from most houses for sale in Martindale. However, high schools are not plentiful and consequently not always within walking distance. As far as eating is concerned, the nearest supermarket in this area is usually only a long trip away. Moreover, those who like to eat in restaurants will have a good number of opportunities, and a limited variety of coffee shops is available as well.

Character

Martindale is a great neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere. The noise levels in this area are very low, as the streets tend to be very tranquil closer to the airport (St. Catharines (Hotel Dieu Hospital) Heliport), Highway 406 or Queen Elizabeth Way. Lastly, there are about 20 public green spaces close by for residents to explore and they are very well-located, which makes them easy to reach.

Housing

In Martindale, most dwellings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings are the main alternative in the housing stock. About one third of properties in this neighbourhood were built in the 1980s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1990s. This area offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy around 80% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood and the remainder are rented.
