Transportation

Regardless of the means of transportation, it is very straightforward to travel in Centretown. The public transit service in this area is excellent. For example, rapid transit stations, including Slater/Kent, Uottawa O-Train East / Est and Bay / Queen on the Rapibus 400, are typically around the corner from the bulk of properties in the neighbourhood. House owners benefit from over 50 bus lines, and the closest bus stop is usually around the corner. Many of the homes for sale in this neighbourhood are located in areas that are also very conducive to pedestrians; meeting daily needs is very easy without a car, and a fair number of businesses of different types can be found as well. Centretown will appeal to physically active house buyers as it is very suited for biking. More specifically, the bicycling infrastructure is very comprehensive.

Services

Schools and daycares are especially convenient to reach as a pedestrian from any location in this part of Ottawa. With respect to eating, both general and specialty grocery stores are ordinarily accessible within a very short stroll from any home in this neighbourhood. In addition, thanks to 400-odd restaurants and cafes in Centretown, there is almost always a spot to get some food or drink just around the corner, for instance along Somerset Street. Character

Centretown is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the feel of this area. Centretown is quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Many locations in the neighbourhood have fairly good access to parks, like LeBreton Flats Park and Commissioners Park, since there are over 50 of them nearby for residents to discover. Finally, this area has many streets for those looking for a dynamic vibe. Even though there are few nearby entertainment venues, there are a very large number of people around most of the time, and with its about 40 bars, there are options for nighttime activities. Elgin Street in particular offers an extensive selection of nightlife.

Housing

Most dwellings are large apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in Centretown, while small apartment buildings are the main alternative in the housing stock.
