Stevenson

Stevenson is a neighbourhood within Oshawa, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Oshawa metropolitan area.

Transportation

The car is usually the best method to move around in Stevenson. Parking is quite easy, and many real estate listings are a very short drive from the nearest highway, such as Highway 401. However, the transit infrastructure in this neighbourhood is not particularly convenient. Nevertheless, homeowners benefit from the Durham College Oshawa on the Lakeshore East. Homeowners have access to approximately 10 bus lines, and it is very convenient to find a nearby bus stop from most properties. There aren't many pedestrians out on the streets of Stevenson, although meeting day-to-day needs is easy without the use of a vehicle. Cycling is also sometimes challenging in this part of Oshawa since there are few bike lanes, and the topography is not especially flat. Nonetheless, some pleasant areas for cycling exist.

Services

The nearest supermarket in this area is generally only a short distance away. In addition, this neighbourhood is a good place in which to eat out, and a small selection of coffee shops can be found as well. With respect to education, parents and their schoolchildren will welcome that wherever their property is situated in this neighbourhood, primary schools and daycares are close by. In contrast, high schools are not numerous and therefore not always within walking distance.

Character

Stevenson offers a vast selection of green spaces to enjoy. It is easy to get to parks in the neighbourhood since there are approximately 20 of them close by for residents to visit. Thanks to the presence of few people out and about on the streets, this part of the city remains relatively quiet, although those who are near Highway 401 or one of the railway lines may experience more noise.

Housing

Stevenson experienced its main construction boom between 1960 and 1980, so most of the available homes are from this era. In this area, roughly 45% of dwellings are townhouses, but small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. About 80% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 20% are rented. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
