College Park

The neighbourhood of College Park is part of the town of Oakville, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

College Park is very car friendly. Parking is easy, and most homes for sale are a rather short car ride from the nearest highway. In contrast, the public transit system in College Park is not very practical. Nonetheless, homeowners can count on the Oakville on the Lakeshore West. There are about 20 bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are generally around the corner. Traveling by foot in College Park is not very popular, even though running daily errands is convenient without a car. On the other hand, it is easy to commute by bike in this neighbourhood as there are a good number of bike lanes.

Services

It is a short walk to get to schools and daycares from anywhere in College Park. As far as eating is concerned, it is rarely practical for property owners in this area to do grocery shopping on foot. Likewise, there is generally a restaurant or cafe just around the corner. It is also convenient to access a variety of clothing stores without the use of a vehicle.

Character

College Park is a fairly good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a relaxed atmosphere. This part of the town is reasonably quiet overall, as the streets are usually quite calm. Finally, numerous locations within the neighbourhood have fairly good access to public green spaces, including McCraney Valley Park and Morrison Valley, since there are over 50 of them nearby for residents to relax in.

Housing

In College Park, roughly 45% of dwellings are single detached homes, and the rest of the properties are mainly large apartment buildings. This part of the town is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. About two thirds of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the remainder are rented. Around half of homes in this area were built between 1960 and 1980, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
