Northeast

The neighbourhood of Northeast is part of the city of Mississauga, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Northeast is especially car friendly. Coming across a parking spot is easy, and it is a short drive to the nearest highway, such as Highway 410, from any location in Northeast. House buyers can also rely on public transit to navigate Northeast due to various rapid transit stations with access to the Meadowvale Express, and approximately 40 nearby bus lines. Northeast is not particularly cycling-friendly because there are few bike lanes. Nevertheless, cyclists do not face serious hills, and a few enjoyable areas for cycling can be found. Walking is also not very popular in Northeast, despite the fact that running daily errands is easy without a car.

Services

House buyers in Northeast will value that a grocery store is always only a reasonably short walk away. Moreover, there is typically a restaurant or cafe just around the corner. Residents can find a good number of clothing stores within walking distance. Regarding education, schools and daycares are convenient to access without a car from any location in Northeast.

Character

There is a vast selection of green spaces in Northeast. Getting to public green spaces in the neighbourhood, including Dunton Athletic Fields and Edward Scarlett Park, is very easy, since there are over 50 of them nearby for residents to explore, such as Meadow Glen Park and Britannia Woods Community Forest. Finally, due to the presence of few pedestrians, this part of the city remains relatively quiet, although there can be more noise for those who are near one of the railway lines, Highway 410, Highway 427 or one of the 2 airports (Tarten Heliport,Toronto / Cardinal Couriers Heliport).

Housing

Northeast did not experience a single building boom; the construction of new buildings in the neighbourhood was spread throughout multiple decades in the twentieth and twenty-first century. Large apartment buildings are the most common housing type, representing about one third of dwellings in this part of the city, and the rest are mainly single detached homes. The split between renters and homeowners is about even. This part of the city also has a good selection of housing sizes - properties range from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
