The neighbourhood of Summit is part of the city of Hamilton, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.

Transportation

Cars are a great transportation option in Summit. The majority of houses for sale are a very short drive from the nearest highway, such as Highway 403, and parking is generally easy. Summit is not very suitable for pedestrians as very few common errands can be run without a vehicle. This neighbourhood is also not very suited for cycling as there is a significant amount of elevation changes, and the bicycling network is not very well-developed.

Services

Home buyers in this part of the city generally have to turn to a car to reach the closest grocery store. As far as education is concerned, there are no high schools and no primary schools in this area. In addition, daycares are not abundant and consequently tend to require a very long trip to get to.

Character

Summit offers a relaxed atmosphere. Summit is quiet overall, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue - although there are still several louder sections, especially near Highway 403. It is rather difficult to get to public green spaces since they aren't well-spread out. Despite that, there are a few parks close by for residents to unwind in.

In Summit, most buildings are single detached homes, while the rest are mainly mobile homes. About 30% of properties in this part of the city were built prior to the 1960s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1990s. This part of Hamilton has a good variety of housing sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Roughly 95% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 5% are renters.
