Sheldon

Transportation

Driving is very often the best way to get around in this area. It is convenient to access a parking spot, and the majority of homes for sale are a short car ride from the closest highway. On the other hand, Sheldon is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are typically around the corner. This area is reasonably suited for biking. Getting around as a pedestrian is not particularly feasible for house buyers in Sheldon as running daily errands is sometimes challenging without needing a car.

Services

Parents and their schoolchildren will welcome the proximity to daycares and primary schools, which are within walking distance from the majority of homes for sale in Sheldon. However, there are no high schools in Sheldon. As far as food is concerned, the nearest supermarket in this neighbourhood is generally only a rather short stroll away. Moreover, those who like to eat in restaurants will have a fair number of opportunities, and a limited variety of cafes can be found as well. It is also a rather short walk to a good choice of clothing stores.

Character

The character of Sheldon is exemplified by its slower-paced ambience. This neighbourhood is reasonably good for those who need a quiet atmosphere, as there are usually low levels of noise from traffic. Lastly, there are around 10 public green spaces nearby for residents to relax in, like Gourley Park and William Connell City-Wide Park, and they are very well-situated, which makes them easy to get to from most locations in Sheldon.

Housing

In Sheldon, the majority of dwellings are single detached homes, but townhouses are also present in the housing stock. This part of the city offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 80% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the rest are rented. Most housing in this neighbourhood was built after the year 2000, during its biggest building boom.
