Transportation

Rosedale is moderately suited for cycling. It is also easy for people walking to navigate Rosedale; many common errands can be run without the use of a vehicle. The public transit infrastructure in this part of Hamilton is not especially accessible. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and most homes are very close to a bus stop. In contrast, the preferred way to navigate Rosedale is very often a car. It is a reasonably short drive to the nearest highway, such as Red Hill Valley Parkway, from anywhere in this neighbourhood, and it is easy to find a parking spot.

Services

The nearest grocery store in this area is generally only a reasonably short trip away. Additionally, there are a fair number of options for those who care about nearby restaurants and cafes. It is also a reasonably short distance to a good variety of clothing stores. When it comes to education, daycares and primary schools are very easy to get to as a pedestrian from any location in Rosedale. In contrast, high schools are not particularly abundant and thus tend to require a rather long stroll to get to.

Character

Rosedale has a character that appeals to a fairly diverse group of people. Rosedale is good for those who like quiet surroundings, as the streets tend to be calm, however noise can be bothersome around the railway line or Red Hill Valley Parkway. On the other hand, there are approximately 20 parks nearby for residents to enjoy, such as Montgomery Park and Margaret Koropatnicki Softball Complex, which makes them very easy to access from a lot of locations within the neighbourhood. Lastly, although the atmosphere is not the liveliest in this area with the nightlife venues in nearby neighbourhoods, it is very easy to find a place to grab a drink as they are generally located around the corner.

Housing

The housing stock of Rosedale is composed primarily of single detached homes and row houses. This area experienced its main building boom pre-1960, so most of the available housing is from this time period. This area is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy around 80% of the properties in the neighbourhood whereas the rest are rented.
