Carluke

Located within the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area, Carluke is a neighbourhood in Hamilton, Ontario.

Transportation

The favoured way to navigate Carluke is very often driving. It is especially convenient to come across a parking spot. The bicycle is a rather poor means of transportation in Carluke because there are very few bike lanes, and there are a fair number of elevation changes. Many of the houses for sale in this neighbourhood are located in areas that are also not very convenient for people who like to travel on foot since most daily needs are very difficult to meet without a vehicle.

Services

A vehicle is generally needed in Carluke to reach the closest grocery store. A limited number of restaurants are available in this part of the city as well. In terms of education, there are no high schools and no primary schools in Carluke. Likewise, parents may find it very hard for their schoolchildren to access daycares without a car.

Character

Carluke is a good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced environment. Most areas in Carluke are quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several louder sections, especially near the airport (John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport). Parks aren't well-located, which makes it rather difficult to reach them. Still, residents will be able to access parks in nearby neighbourhoods.

Housing

Around 40% of properties in Carluke were constructed pre-1960, while many of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s. In this neighbourhood, the overwhelming majority of buildings are single detached homes, and the rest of the houses are mainly duplexes. Homeowners occupy about 85% of the dwellings in Carluke and 15% are rented. Although this part of the city is especially good for those looking for four or more bedroom homes.
