The neighbourhood of Downtown Grimsby is part of the town of Grimsby, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.
Transportation
Downtown Grimsby is especially car friendly. It is very convenient to park, and most real estate listings are a reasonably short drive from the nearest highway. Downtown Grimsby is not very bicycling-friendly since there are a fair number of elevation changes to challenge cyclists, and the bicycling network is not very comprehensive. Downtown Grimsby is also not especially conducive to those who get around as pedestrians since few common errands can be run without a car.
Services
It is a short trip to get to daycares and schools from any location in this area. With respect to food, it is very often practical for house buyers in Downtown Grimsby to buy their groceries by foot. There are also a limited number of options for those who appreciate restaurants and cafes in close proximity.
Character
The character of Downtown Grimsby is exemplified by its relaxed ambience. Downtown Grimsby is quiet overall, as the streets are reasonably peaceful - however noise can be problematic closer to the railway line. It is very difficult to access parks from the majority of locations in the neighbourhood since they aren't well-spread out. Still, there are about 20 parks nearby for residents to visit.
Housing
About two thirds of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and one third are rented. In this neighbourhood, about 45% of dwellings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. About 30% of properties in this neighbourhood were built before the 1960s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. This area is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
