Vinegar Hill

Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, Vinegar Hill is a neighbourhood within Markham, Ontario.

Transportation

The car is very often the best mode of transportation in Vinegar Hill. It is a very short car ride to the nearest highway, such as Highway 407, from any location in this area, and parking is generally easy. However, Vinegar Hill is not an especially pleasant part of Markham for moving around by public transit. Nonetheless, rapid transit stations, including Highway 7 / Galsworthy, Hwy 7 / Wootten and Hwy 7 / Main Markham with access to the Viva Purple, are not very far-removed from the majority of houses in the neighbourhood. Residents have access to a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally very close by. Traveling as a pedestrian is not very common in Vinegar Hill, although many common errands can be run without the need to use a vehicle. In contrast, this part of Markham is fairly appropriate for cycling.

Services

It is easy to reach the closest grocery store without a car in this part of Markham. Likewise, a restaurant is generally just around the corner, and residents are served by a few cafes as well. Regarding education, families will find that wherever their house is situated in this area, daycares and schools are nearby.

Character

Home buyers who prefer a relaxed atmosphere will enjoy Vinegar Hill. Green spaces, such as Milne Dam Conservation Park and Rouge Valley Park, are very well-distributed and there are around 10 of them close by for residents to discover, which makes them very easy to reach. This part of Markham is also quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour - although there are still several noisier sections, especially near Highway 407.

Housing

Single detached homes are the main housing type, representing many buildings in Vinegar Hill, while duplexes are also present in the housing stock. About 30% of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed in the 1980s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1990s. This part of Markham is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes. Roughly 90% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and renters make up the remainder.
