The Beaches

The neighbourhood of The Beaches can be found in the city of Toronto, Ontario, which is located in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

The Beaches offers house buyers several alternative methods of transportation. This area is a very convenient part of Toronto for pedestrians; many daily needs can be carried out without the use of a vehicle, and there are also a fair number of businesses in proximity. Riding a bicycle is rather adopted in The Beaches as the cycling network is rather extensive. Home buyers can rely on public transit to travel in The Beaches owing to Danforth on the Lakeshore East, and about 10 nearby bus lines. Commuting by car is also convenient in this part of the city as it is generally not too challenging to park.

Services

A general and a specialty grocery store is always only a short trip away in this neighbourhood. Furthermore, there are over 100 restaurants and about 20 coffee shops to benefit from in The Beaches. It is also a short trip to a very good selection of clothing stores. Concerning education, in The Beaches, parents and their children will typically be able to access schools and daycares on foot.

Character

The Beaches has a character that caters to a fairly diverse group of people. Even though the ambience is not the liveliest in this area, the vibe is still quite dynamic around its busier streets, and finding one of the about 10 nightlife venues is very easy as they are generally situated in very convenient locations. The Beaches is quiet overall, as the streets are calm. The greenery in this part of the city is reasonably prominent; access to green spaces, including Woodbine Beach Park and Balmy Beach, is very easy from a lot of locations within the neighbourhood since there are over 50 of them close by for residents to unwind in. In addition, residents will find that the tree canopy coverage for a large number of streets is reasonably good.

Housing

Around 40% of dwellings are small apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in The Beaches, but single detached homes and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. This area has a good choice of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Roughly two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and the remainder are renters. This neighbourhood experienced its biggest building boom prior to the 1960s, so most of the available properties are from this era.
