The neighbourhood of Old East York is part of the city of Toronto, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area.

Transportation

Old East York allows homeowners to travel by a diversity of methods of transportation. Owing to about 10 nearby bus lines, the transit network in this area is very accessible. Property owners who appreciate being able to walk to everything will also welcome the reasonably pedestrian-friendly character of Old East York; running common errands is easy without needing to use a car, and many businesses are close at hand. This part of the city is bike-friendly.

Services

It is usually an option for house buyers in this neighbourhood to purchase general and specialty groceries by foot. Likewise, with around 40 restaurants and a few coffee shops, Old East York is a very good area in which to eat out. Residents can find many nearby clothing stores. In terms of education, families will value the proximity to schools and daycares, which are within walking distance from all homes for sale in this area.

Character

Old East York has a character that appeals to a fairly diverse group of people. Even though the ambience is not the most lively in this part of Toronto, its busier streets can still be quite dynamic, and with the bars in nearby neighbourhoods, it is easy to find a place to grab a drink since they are generally located a short distance away. Donlands Avenue in particular offers an extensive selection of nightlife. Old East York is quiet overall, as the streets are generally peaceful, although that is not the case around Don Valley Parkway. The greenery in this area is reasonably prominent; public green spaces, such as E. T. Seton Park and Stan Wadlow Park, are very well-spread out and there are over 50 of them nearby for residents to unwind in, making them very easy to access. Furthermore, residents will find that many tree-lined streets are around.

Housing

In Old East York, most dwellings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and duplexes are also present in the housing stock. Most homes in this area were built prior to the 1960s, during its biggest construction boom. This part of Toronto is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Around two thirds of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the rest are rented.
