The community of Shearwater is part of the municipality of Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is located in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

Commuting by car is very convenient in Shearwater. It is very easy to find a place to park. On the other hand, travelling by public transit is challenging in Shearwater. Nonetheless, there are a few bus lines passing through the community, and the nearest bus stop is typically around the corner. Even though people often choose to travel by bike, Shearwater is not particularly cycling-friendly because there are few bike lanes, and there are quite a few slopes. Shearwater is also not very convenient for those who like to get around on foot as running common errands is inconvenient without a vehicle.

This area does not have any high schools or primary schools. Likewise, daycares are not very plentiful and thus tend to require an extended stroll to get to.
