The neighbourhood of Riverside is part of the municipality of Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is situated in the Greater Halifax metropolitan area.

Transportation

Riverside is an extremely convenient part of Halifax for driving. It is very easy to come across a place to park, and the majority of homes for sale are a very short car ride from the closest highway. On the other hand, public transit riders may have few options in Riverside as a result of the service's low frequency. Nonetheless, residents have access to a few bus lines, and it is very convenient to reach a nearby bus stop from most properties. Bicycling is challenging in Riverside because there are a fair number of slopes for cyclists to brave, and there are a limited number of bike lanes. Getting around by foot is also not especially practical for home buyers in this part of the municipality since few daily errands can be run without needing a vehicle.

Services

It is straightforward to get to the closest grocery store as a pedestrian from any home in this neighbourhood. There are also around 10 restaurants and cafes in Riverside. Furthermore, home buyers have access to a good number of nearby clothing stores. When it comes to education, daycares and high schools are very easy to get to without the use of a car from anywhere in Riverside. In contrast, there are no primary schools in this part of Halifax.

Character

The character of Riverside is exemplified by its relaxed atmosphere. This part of Halifax is quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Finally, it is easy to reach public green spaces from many locations in the neighbourhood since there are a few of them close by for residents to check out.

Housing

In Riverside, the majority of dwellings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings are the main alternative in the housing stock. Around one quarter of properties in this neighbourhood were built in the 1990s, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This area also has a good choice of unit sizes - it is quite easy to find homes ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Roughly two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and one third are renters.
