Enfield

Part of the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, Enfield is a community within Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Enfield is an extraordinarily good part of Halifax for moving around by car. It is especially convenient to park, and most real estate listings are a short car ride from the nearest highway. The bike is a fairly poor means of transportation in Enfield because the bicycling infrastructure is quite bad, and the terrain is not particularly flat. Walking is also not very practical for house buyers in this community since very few daily needs can be met without the use of a car.

Services

In most, if not all, cases, a car is required in Enfield to reach the nearest grocery store. There are also a few options for those who value restaurants and cafes in close proximity. With regards to education, Enfield does not contain any high schools or primary schools. Moreover, it can be challenging to access daycares on foot.

Character

Enfield offers a relaxed ambience. Enfield is quiet overall, as the streets are generally calm - however noise can be an issue near the railway line. Parks aren't well-located, which makes it rather challenging to get to them. Despite that, there are a few green spaces close by for residents to check out.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing the vast majority of buildings in Enfield, while mobile homes make up most of the remaining housing stock. This part of the municipality also has a selection of unit sizes; although this community is especially good for those looking for three bedroom homes. Roughly 95% of the population of this community own their home and 5% are renters. About one third of properties in this part of the municipality were built following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1960s.
