Part of the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, Dartmouth Cove is a neighbourhood within Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

No matter the medium of transportation, it is fairly easy to travel in Dartmouth Cove. Owing to approximately 10 nearby bus lines, this neighbourhood features reasonably good transit access. Most homes for sale in this part of the municipality are located in areas that are also suitable for people who prefer to get around as pedestrians; running common errands is convenient without a vehicle. Dartmouth Cove is fairly appropriate for cycling as the cycling infrastructure is rather extensive.

Services

The closest supermarket in Dartmouth Cove is usually only a reasonably short distance away. Likewise, there is typically a restaurant or cafe just around the corner. It is also a reasonably short distance to a good selection of clothing stores. With regards to education, primary schools and daycares are especially easy to access without the need to get in a car from most houses for sale in this part of the municipality. However, Dartmouth Cove does not have any high schools.

Character

Dartmouth Cove is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the feel of this part of the municipality. Dartmouth Cove is very quiet, as there tend to be low levels of noise from traffic. However, many locations within the neighbourhood have reasonably good access to public green spaces, including Sullivan's Pond Park, since there are around 30 of them close by for residents to check out. Lastly, even though this part of the municipality is not known for its vibrancy, places to go out at night are well-distributed throughout the area.

Housing

The majority of buildings are small apartment buildings, making it easy to find apartments in Dartmouth Cove, but large apartment buildings and single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. The homes in this neighbourhood are quite old, since around 40% of its dwellings were constructed pre-1960, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 2000s. This part of Halifax offers mainly one bedroom and two bedroom homes. Around two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood rent their home while owners make up the remainder.
