Kemptown

Located within the Greater Truro metropolitan area, Kemptown is a neighbourhood within Colchester Subdivision B, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

This neighbourhood is an extraordinarily good part of Colchester Subdivision B for driving. Most properties for sale are a very short car ride from the closest highway, such as Highway 104, and coming across a place to park is easy. Kemptown is not very cycling-friendly because there are a fair number of elevation changes, and the bicycling infrastructure is quite poor. Traveling as a pedestrian is also not very practical for property owners in Kemptown since many day-to-day needs are almost impossible to meet without a vehicle.

Services

Kemptown does not contain any high schools or primary schools. Moreover, daycares are not plentiful and thus not always within a short distance. Concerning food, doing one's groceries usually requires the use of a car in Kemptown.

Character

Kemptown is a neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a chill ambience. Kemptown is an excellent area for those who aren't bothered by a bit of noise, as during busy hours, traffic can occasionally be bothersome.

Housing

The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of Kemptown is an important part of its character. Roughly 30% of homes in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This part of the subdivision of a county municipality is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Roughly 90% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas renters occupy the remainder.
