Little Lorraine

Part of the Cape Breton metropolitan area, Little Lorraine is a community within Cape Breton Municipality, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

The best method to navigate this community is usually a car. It is very easy to find a place to park. This area is not very conducive to pedestrians because almost no daily needs can be carried out without a car. Little Lorraine is also not very amenable to bicycling because there is a significant amount of elevation changes, and the bicycling infrastructure is quite bad.

Services

There are no high schools and no primary schools in this area. Furthermore, there are only a very small number of daycares and thus they can be a very long walk away. When it comes to eating, home buyers in Little Lorraine almost always need a vehicle to travel to the nearest grocery store.

Character

Little Lorraine is an excellent community to buy a house in for those who prefer a relaxed atmosphere. This part of the municipality is wonderful for those who enjoy quiet areas, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Finally, although the community is not home to any parks, public green spaces are well-distributed in nearby communities, which results in them being very easy to access from most locations within this community.

Housing

Homeowners occupy nearly 95% of the units in the community and the remainder are rented. The large percentage of single detached homes in the housing stock of this part of the municipality is an important part of its character. About one third of properties in this community were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This part of Cape Breton Municipality is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
