White Hills

The neighbourhood of White Hills is part of the city of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, which is located in the Greater St. John's metropolitan area.

Transportation

The preferred transportation option in this part of the city is usually driving. Most properties for sale are a reasonably short car ride from the closest highway, and it is especially convenient to access a place to park. On the other hand, this part of the city is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and most residences are very close to a bus stop. Travelling by bicycle is difficult in White Hills as the bicycling infrastructure is not very extensive, and cyclists are faced with a significant amount of elevation changes. It is also difficult for pedestrians to navigate White Hills because most daily needs are inconvenient to meet without a vehicle.

Services

In all but a few cases, a car is required to do groceries. Nonetheless, pharmacies are generally convenient to get to as a pedestrian and provide some basic food items. There are also a few restaurants in this area. With respect to education, families will appreciate that no matter where their property is located in White Hills, primary schools and daycares are close by. However, White Hills does not contain any high schools.

Character

The character of White Hills is exemplified by its relaxed atmosphere. White Hills is excellent for those who need quiet areas, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour.

Housing

Around two thirds of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters and the remainder are occupied by owners. In this area, a small minority of dwellings are single detached homes, while duplexes are also present in the housing stock. Most housing in this neighbourhood was constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, during its biggest building boom. This part of the city is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
