Elm Park

Part of the Greater Winnipeg metropolitan area, Elm Park is a neighbourhood within Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Transportation

Elm Park will attract physically active people because it is rather suitable for cycling. More specifically, cyclists do not encounter significant hills, and the cycling network is reasonably good. House buyers who value living in a community that's walkable will also enjoy the fairly pedestrian-friendly nature of Elm Park; many day-to-day errands can be run without a vehicle, and various businesses are reasonably close at hand. The favoured means of transportation in this part of Winnipeg is usually a car. Finding a place to park is quite easy, and many homes for sale are a very short drive from the nearest highway. On the other hand, this neighbourhood is not particularly transit friendly. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far from most houses.

Services

It is frequently possible for house buyers in Elm Park to purchase groceries by foot. Likewise, there are a fair number of options for those who care about nearby restaurants and cafes. It is also convenient to get to a number of clothing stores without a vehicle, for instance along St. Mary's Road. With respect to education, in Elm Park, parents and their children will generally be able to reach daycares and schools as pedestrians.

Character

Elm Park is a great area for home buyers who enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities. Although the atmosphere is not the most lively in this part of the city with the nightlife venues in nearby neighbourhoods, it is sometimes hard to find a place to grab a drink as they are generally located within walking distance. However, a large number of locations in the neighbourhood have fairly good access to green spaces, such as Harris Park and Churchill Drive Park, since there are around 30 of them close by for residents to visit.

Housing

In Elm Park, the vast majority of dwellings are single detached homes, while small apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. This part of Winnipeg is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy roughly 80% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood whereas the rest are rented. Most homes in this part of the city were built pre-1960, during its most significant construction boom.
