Part of the Greater Prince George metropolitan area, Vla is a neighbourhood within Prince George, British Columbia.

Transportation

People who appreciate residing in a compact community will be pleased with the rather pedestrian-friendly nature of Vla, although daily errands are sometimes difficult to run without a vehicle. Biking is also convenient in this part of the city. Vla is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is linked by a few bus lines, and bus stops are generally very close by. In contrast, driving is a fairly good means of transportation in this area. It is convenient to find a parking spot.

Services

In this area, parents and their children will almost always be able to reach daycares and primary schools without a vehicle. In contrast, Vla does not contain any high schools. Concerning food, a grocery store is usually reachable within a short distance from any location in Vla. Likewise, a restaurant is often just around the corner, and a limited number of coffee shops is available as well.

Character

Vla is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the feel of this part of Prince George. Vla is very quiet overall, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. However, green spaces, such as Connaught Hill Park and Hudson's Bay Wetland Nature Park, are very well-spread out and there are around 10 of them nearby for residents to explore, which makes it very easy to get to them. Lastly, even though this part of the city is not known for its lively atmosphere, with its a few nightlife venues, there are options for nighttime activities.

Housing

Vla experienced its main construction boom between 1960 and 1980, so most of the available housing stock is from this era. In this part of Prince George, about 30% of dwellings are single detached homes, but small apartment buildings, duplexes, and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. The proportions of renters and homeowners are about even. This part of the city offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
