Part of the Greater Prince George metropolitan area, Chief Lake is a neighbourhood within Prince George, British Columbia.

Transportation

Cars are a great transportation option in Chief Lake. Accessing a parking spot is generally easy, and many homes for sale are a rather short car ride from the nearest highway. However, Chief Lake is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, house owners benefit from a few bus lines, and most houses are very close to a bus stop. The bicycle is a rather limited method of transportation in Chief Lake since the topography is not particularly flat, and the cycling infrastructure is not very well-developed. Walking is also not very convenient for residents in this neighbourhood because running daily errands is inconvenient without the use of a vehicle.

Services

There are only a few high schools in this area and accordingly they can be a long walk away. Likewise, Chief Lake does not contain any primary schools. Moreover, parents and their children may find it difficult to get to daycares by walking. Regarding food, house buyers in Chief Lake typically have to rely on a vehicle to do their grocery shopping. There are a few options for those who care about nearby restaurants.

Character

Chief Lake is a good neighbourhood to buy a house in for those who prefer a slower-paced environment. Most areas in this part of the city are reasonably quiet, as the streets tend to be quite tranquil. Finally, most locations within the neighbourhood have fairly good access to parks, including Heather Road Park and Ferguson Lake Nature Reserve, since getting to one from a large number of homes for sale is very easy and there are a few public green spaces nearby for residents to check out.

Housing

About 90% of the population of this neighbourhood own their home and 10% are renters. The predominance of single detached homes in the housing stock of this neighbourhood is an important part of its character. The buildings in this part of the city are relatively new, because around one third of its dwellings were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1990s and the 2000s. This neighbourhood offers mainly three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
