The neighbourhood of Uptown can be found in the city of New Westminster, British Columbia, which is located in the Metro Vancouver metropolitan area.

Transportation

Uptown is a very good part of New Westminster for eco-friendly transportation options. Thanks to plenty of nearby rapid transit stations with access to the Expo Line, and about 10 nearby bus lines, this part of the city benefits from a fairly good public transit system. Property owners who value residing in an area that's walkable will also enjoy the especially pedestrian-friendly nature of Uptown; running daily errands is convenient without a vehicle, and there are also a good number of businesses in proximity. The bicycle is a reasonably good means of transportation in Uptown as there are a fair number of bike lanes.

Services

Parents and their children will value the proximity to daycares and schools, which are within walking distance from all houses for sale in this neighbourhood. Regarding food, it is usually practical for property owners in Uptown to do their groceries on foot. Likewise, there are over 100 restaurants and around 20 coffee shops to benefit from in Uptown. It is also easy to get to a variety of clothing stores as a pedestrian.

Character

Uptown has a character that caters to a fairly diverse group of people. Although the atmosphere is not the liveliest in this part of New Westminster, its main streets are still quite dynamic, and finding one of the a few bars is very easy because they are generally located around the corner. The noise levels in Uptown are low, as the streets are generally reasonably calm. There are about 40 public green spaces nearby for residents to visit, like Queen's Park and Moody Park, and they are especially well-distributed, making it easy to reach them.

Housing

Over half of the housing stock of Uptown consists of small apartment buildings and large apartment buildings, while the rest are mainly small apartment buildings. This neighbourhood is notable for those looking for one bedroom homes. Roughly two thirds of the population of this neighbourhood rent their home while owners make up the remainder. About half of homes in this neighbourhood were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s.
