Rutherford

The neighbourhood of Rutherford can be found in the city of Edmonton, Alberta, which is located in the Greater Edmonton metropolitan area.

Transportation

The car is very often the best transportation option in this neighbourhood. The majority of properties for sale are a reasonably short drive from the nearest highway, and parking is quite easy. However, the public transit network in this part of the city is fairly poor. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is connected by a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far from most homes. It is occasionally difficult for pedestrians to navigate this part of Edmonton as few common errands can be run without a car. However, biking is easy in Rutherford as the bicycling network is good, and it is a flat ride to most destinations.

Services

It is a rather short walk to get to daycares and schools from anywhere in this neighbourhood. In terms of eating, it is sometimes an option for property owners in Rutherford to do grocery shopping as pedestrians. Residents benefit from approximately 10 restaurants and cafes as well.

Character

Rutherford is a great neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a calm ambience. Parks, including Southwest Mixedwood and Heritage Valley District Park, are especially well-spread out and there are about 30 of them nearby for residents to relax in, making it easy to reach them. This area is also excellent for those who like a quiet atmosphere, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic.

Housing

Rutherford experienced its most significant construction boom following the year 2000, so most of the available properties are from this time period. In this area, around 45% of buildings are single detached homes, but small apartment buildings and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. Roughly three quarters of the population of this neighbourhood own their home while the rest are renters. This part of Edmonton is primarily composed of two bedroom and three bedroom homes.
