Woodlands is a neighbourhood within Calgary, Alberta, which is situated in the Greater Calgary metropolitan area.

Transportation

Woodlands is a fairly good part of Calgary for driving. It is easy to park. On the other hand, the public transit service in this area is not very frequent. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is connected by about 10 bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally very close by. There are relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of this part of Calgary, although meeting daily needs is convenient without the use of a car. However, Woodlands is fairly bicycling-friendly as there are a fair number of bike lanes.

It is convenient to get to the nearest supermarket on foot in Woodlands. There are also a limited number of options for those who care about restaurants and cafes within walking distance. The character of Woodlands is exemplified by its slower-paced atmosphere. The noise levels in this part of Calgary are especially low, as the streets are very calm. Finally, green spaces, such as Woodbine Athletic Park and Southwood off-leash area 2, are very well-distributed and there are over 50 of them nearby for residents to enjoy, making them very easy to get to.

Housing

Woodlands experienced its largest construction boom in the 1960s and 1970s, so most of the available housing is from this time period. In this neighbourhood, the majority of buildings are single detached homes, but small apartment buildings are also present in the housing stock. About 70% of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the remainder are rented. This part of the city is primarily composed of three bedroom and four or more bedroom homes.
