Part of the Greater Calgary metropolitan area, Midtown is a neighbourhood within Airdrie, Alberta.

Transportation

Driving is usually the best transportation option in this neighbourhood. Coming across a parking spot is generally easy, and many houses for sale are a rather short drive from the closest highway. In contrast, the transit infrastructure in Midtown is not very practical. Nevertheless, homeowners have access to a few bus lines, and bus stops are not very far away from most homes. Midtown is not particularly convenient for those who get around as pedestrians as carrying out day-to-day needs is occasionally difficult without a vehicle. On the other hand, bicycling is easy in Midtown since this area boasts fairly good cycling infrastructure, and it is a flat ride to most destinations.

Services

It is easy to get to the nearest supermarket by foot from most properties for sale in Midtown. In addition, there is generally a restaurant or cafe just around the corner. A decent selection of clothing stores is also located within a reasonably short walking distance. With regards to education, in this part of the city, families will usually be able to access daycares without a car. In contrast, there are only a few high schools in Midtown and thus they can be a rather long distance away. Moreover, Midtown does not contain any primary schools.

The character of Midtown is exemplified by its calm environment. Midtown is very quiet, as noise from the streets and other parts of the city is rarely an issue.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing many dwellings in Midtown, while small apartment buildings and townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Around 80% of the properties in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and 20% are rented. This part of Airdrie experienced its most significant building boom after the year 2000, so most of the available housing is from this time period.
