Dunluce

The neighbourhood of Dunluce is part of the city of Edmonton, Alberta, which is situated in the Greater Edmonton metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is a very good medium of transportation in Dunluce. Parking is generally easy, and it is a rather short car ride to the closest highway from any home in this part of the city. In contrast, commuting by transit can be occasionally difficult in this part of Edmonton due to the infrequent service. Thankfully, the neighbourhood is connected by approximately 10 bus lines, and bus stops are generally around the corner. This area is fairly amenable to bicycling as riding a bike is facilitated by the generally flat terrain, and the bicycling infrastructure is moderately comprehensive. Dunluce is not particularly well-suited for pedestrians as few common errands can be run without the need to use a vehicle.

Services

A supermarket is ordinarily reachable within a reasonably short trip from anywhere in this area. Additionally, Dunluce is a good place in which to eat out, for instance along Castle Downs Road North-west, and house buyers are served by a few cafes as well. Residents benefit from a good number of nearby clothing stores. As far as education is concerned, daycares and primary schools are straightforward to access on foot from any location in Dunluce. In contrast, high schools are not especially numerous and thus not always within walking distance.

Character

Dunluce offers a slower-paced environment and will appeal to those who enjoy spending time in green spaces. This area is very quiet overall, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic. Lastly, there are about 30 green spaces nearby for residents to check out, like Caernarvon Park and Oxford Park, and they are very well-spread out, which results in them being easy to reach from the majority of locations within the neighbourhood.

Housing

Single detached homes are the predominant housing type, representing around 55% of dwellings in Dunluce, while small apartment buildings make up most of the remaining housing stock. This area offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Around two thirds of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners and the remainder are rented. Most of the housing growth in this neighbourhood took place between 1960 and 1980.
