Character

Parkdale is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the ambience of this neighbourhood. Parkdale is especially quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. On the other hand, there are about 30 public green spaces close by for residents to relax in, like West Campus Park and Karl Baker Off-Leash Park, and they are very well-distributed, making them very easy to reach. Lastly, even though this part of Calgary is not known for its vibrancy, with the nightlife venues in nearby neighbourhoods, it is rather difficult to find a place to grab a drink because they are generally located quite far away.

In Parkdale, around 30% of dwellings are single detached homes, while large apartment buildings, small apartment buildings, and duplexes are also present in the housing stock. About one third of properties in this area were built after the year 2000, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1960s. This area has a good selection of housing size options, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Homeowners occupy about two thirds of the dwellings in the neighbourhood and one third are rented.
