Chinatown

The neighbourhood of Chinatown can be found in the city of Calgary, Alberta, which is located in the Greater Calgary metropolitan area.

Transportation

No matter the medium of transportation, it is very convenient to move around in Chinatown. Chinatown is an extraordinarily pleasant part of Calgary for pedestrians; most daily needs can be carried out without a vehicle, and a good number of businesses of different types can be found as well. This area is also very cycling-friendly as there are a very large number of bike lanes. Thanks to many nearby rapid transit stations with access to the Blue Line - Saddletowne/69 Street CTrain and Red Line - Somerset - Bridlewood/Tuscany CTrain, and about 40 nearby bus lines, getting around by public transit is very easy in Chinatown. Chinatown is also a fairly convenient part of Calgary for driving. It is easy to find a parking spot, and nearby highways are rather easy to reach from anywhere in Chinatown.

Services

It is a short walk to get to daycares and schools from any location in Chinatown. Regarding food, it is straightforward to access both a general and a specialty grocery store as a pedestrian from most houses for sale in Chinatown. Additionally, with 250-odd restaurants and cafes in this part of Calgary, there is almost always a place to get a meal or beverage just around the corner. It is also a very short trip to a great variety of clothing stores.

Character

No matter what type of character home buyers prefer in a neighbourhood, Chinatown is a good option. Chinatown is reasonably quiet overall, as the streets are usually quite calm. Getting to public green spaces, such as Rotary Park and Crescent Heights Park, is very easy from a lot of locations within the neighbourhood since there are approximately 20 of them close by for residents to check out. Lastly, this part of the city has numerous places to visit. Even though there is a limited selection of entertainment venues, the streets are often busy with people, and places to go out at night are well-distributed throughout the neighbourhood.

Housing

The predominance of large apartment buildings in the housing stock of Chinatown is an important part of its character. This area offers mainly two bedroom and one bedroom homes. About three quarters of the population of this neighbourhood rent their home whereas owners make up the remainder. Roughly one third of homes in this area were built following the year 2000, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s.
