Beltline

Situated within the Greater Calgary metropolitan area, Beltline is a neighbourhood in Calgary, Alberta.

Transportation

Beltline is a very good part of Calgary for eco-friendly transportation options. This part of the city is rather transit friendly as a result of a multitude of nearby rapid transit stations on the Red Line - Somerset - Bridlewood/Tuscany CTrain and Blue Line - Saddletowne/69 Street CTrain, and about 30 nearby bus lines. Beltline is also an extraordinarily pleasant part of Calgary for pedestrians; all daily needs can be carried out without needing to use a vehicle, and plenty of businesses are fairly close at hand. Physically active house buyers will be pleased with the fairly cycling-friendly character of Beltline. More precisely, cyclists do not encounter significant elevation changes, and Beltline features good bicycling infrastructure.

Services

Schools and daycares are very easy to reach by foot from anywhere in Beltline. In terms of food, a general and a specialty grocery store is always only a very short distance away in this part of Calgary. Additionally, there are over 350 restaurants and over 50 cafes to experience in Beltline. Residents benefit from numerous nearby clothing stores, for example on 1 Street South-west.

Character

Beltline is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the ambience of this neighbourhood. Beltline is good for those who need a quiet atmosphere, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour. Green spaces, such as ENMAX Park and Saint Patrick's Island, are especially well-spread out and there are over 100 of them nearby for residents to unwind in, making them very easy to access. Lastly, finding things to do in this part of Calgary is very easy. Despite the fact that few entertainment venues can be found nearby, the streets are usually busy with people, and places to go out at night are well-distributed throughout the area.

Housing

The sizeable percentage of large apartment buildings in the housing stock of Beltline is an important part of its character. The homes in this area are very new, because roughly half of its dwellings were constructed following the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. This part of Calgary offers mainly two bedroom and one bedroom homes. Renters occupy roughly three quarters of the units in Beltline whereas owners occupy the remainder.
