Le Plateau

Le Plateau is a neighbourhood within Québec, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Québec City metropolitan area.

Transportation

It is convenient for pedestrians to get around in Le Plateau; meeting daily needs is easy without a vehicle. In contrast, this part of the city is not especially suited for bicycling since there are a limited number of bike lanes, and riding is made arduous by the typically sloping topography. Le Plateau is not especially transit friendly. Nonetheless, there are over 50 bus lines passing through the neighbourhood, and bus stops are ordinarily very close by. In contrast, cars are a very good transportation option in this part of the city. It is convenient to access a parking spot, and it is a very short drive to the closest highway, such as Autoroute Duplessis, from anywhere in Le Plateau.

Services

Daycares and primary schools are very easy to access by foot from most properties for sale in Le Plateau. However, there are only a few high schools and thus they can be a rather long stroll away. As far as food is concerned, it is straightforward to get to the nearest grocery store on foot from any home in Le Plateau. Moreover, a restaurant is generally just around the corner, and home buyers are served by a few cafes as well. It is also easy to reach a selection of clothing stores as a pedestrian.

Character

The character of Le Plateau is exemplified by its slower-paced ambience. The noise levels in this part of Québec are low, as the streets are generally quite tranquil - although that is not the case around the railway line, Autoroute Duplessis or Autoroute Henri-IV. Finally, there are approximately 30 parks close by for residents to check out and they are especially well-distributed, making them easy to access.

Housing

Roughly two thirds of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by renters while the rest are occupied by owners. In this part of Québec, around two thirds of buildings are small apartment buildings, while single detached homes are also present in the housing stock. Roughly 40% of properties in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while most of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This part of the city has a good selection of unit sizes, ranging from lofts to four or more bedrooms.
