Transportation

Cars are an excellent mode of transportation in L'Anse-à-l’Orme. Parking is easy. On the other hand, this part of Montréal is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, there are around 10 bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far-removed from most residences. This area is not very conducive to pedestrians because common amenities such as barbers or laundromats can be an extended trip away. However, cycling is very easy in L'Anse-à-l’Orme.

Services

Daycares are easy to reach without a vehicle from anywhere in this area. In contrast, there are only a very small number of high schools in this part of Montréal and therefore they can be a very long stroll away. In addition, L'Anse-à-l’Orme does not contain any primary schools. As far as eating is concerned, a car is usually required in this part of the city to access the closest grocery store. There are also a few opportunities for those who appreciate nearby restaurants.

Character

The character of L'Anse-à-l’Orme is exemplified by its relaxed ambience. This neighbourhood is wonderful for those who need quiet areas, as there are low levels of noise from traffic closer to Autoroute Félix-Leclerc. Lastly, there is a fair amount of greenery in this part of Montréal; there are around 10 parks nearby for residents to unwind in, like Parc-nature du Cap-Saint-Jacques and Parc-nature de l'Anse-à-l'Orme, which makes it very easy to access them. Residents will also find that many tree-lined streets are present.

Housing

In L'Anse-à-l’Orme, about two thirds of dwellings are single detached homes, but small apartment buildings and townhouses are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 80% of the dwellings in L'Anse-à-l’Orme and 20% are rented. Roughly 45% of homes in this part of Montréal were built following the year 2000, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1980s and the 1990s.
