Bordeaux

Bordeaux is a neighbourhood within Montréal, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

Regardless of the medium of transportation, it is rather convenient to get around in this area. Owing to Gare Bois-de-Boulogne with access to the 12 - Saint-Jérôme, and around 10 nearby bus lines, Bordeaux features reasonably good public transit infrastructure. Home buyers who value being able to walk everywhere will also welcome the reasonably pedestrian-friendly character of Bordeaux; running common errands is convenient without the use of a vehicle, and a variety of businesses are fairly close by. Moving around by bicycle is convenient in this part of the city because the bicycling network is rather extensive, and riding a bike is facilitated by the generally flat terrain.

Services

In Bordeaux, parents and their kids will almost always be able to access daycares and schools as pedestrians. When it comes to eating, the nearest grocery store in Bordeaux is usually only a short distance away. Moreover, there is generally a restaurant or cafe in close proximity. It is also easy to reach a selection of clothing stores without the use of a vehicle.

Character

Bordeaux is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the feel of this area. Bordeaux is fairly good for those who need a quiet atmosphere, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour, although that is not the case near the railway line, the airport (Héliport de Montréal (Sacré-Coeur)) or Autoroute des Laurentides. On the other hand, this area features a good amount of greenery; it is very easy to get to parks in the neighbourhood since there are around 40 of them nearby for residents to check out. Residents will also find that the tree canopy coverage for a lot of streets is good. Finally, although this neighbourhood is not known for its lively ambience, its main streets are still quite dynamic, and with the bars in nearby neighbourhoods, it is very easy to find a place to grab a drink as they are generally located around the corner.

Housing

In Bordeaux, about 60% of dwellings are small apartment buildings, while duplexes and single detached homes make up most of the remaining housing stock. This neighbourhood also has a good choice of unit sizes - houses range from lofts to four or more bedrooms. About 55% of the population of this neighbourhood rent their home and 45% are owners. Roughly half of properties in this neighbourhood were constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, while many of the remaining buildings were built pre-1960.
